Poncho

For my sister-in-law and her choir performances. The choir desided to buy lots of yarn and have the members knit their ponchos themselves - or outsource it like in this case. I was more than happy to do it, brainless knits like this is what I need every now and then, and also I was happy to be able to help. My pleasure.

The yarn was a new acquaintance to me, but a pleasurable one.

Kälylleni kuoroesiintymisiin. Heidän kuoro päätti hankkia paljon lankaa ja neulotuttaa ponchot kuorolaisilla itsellään - tai ulkoistaa toiminta kuten tässä tapauksessa. Minusta oli hauskaa hoitaa tämä homma, tällaisia aivottomia töitä tarvitsee aina välillä, ja oli muutenkin mukava olla avuksi. Ilo oli minun puolellani.

Lanka oli minulle uusi tuttavuus, mutta mukava sellainen.

Wurm III and IV

For my friends daughters :) Even though I have now made four of these in a short timespan I was not yet tired of making them. The yarn was chosen and brought to me by my friend, but I must say that this colour would rather suit me too :) Now I have to stop Wurming and make a poncho for my sister-in-law.

Wurm again

Needless to say, the other young lady wanted one too. Substitute yarn because this lady wanted her hat brownish since brown is her favourite colour. The width turned out great, but since the last hat had a couple of bulks too many, I made this a bit lower.However that was not a good idea because of the yarn and I ended up with a hat that will not 'hang'. Anyway, the recepient is happy, isn't that all that matters?!

Sanomattakin on selvää, että toinekin nuori neiti halusi tällaisen. Korvaavaa lankaa koska tämä neiti halusi pipansa rusehtavana, onhan ruskea hänen lempivärinsä. Leveys on hyvä, mutta koska edelliseen hattuun tuli pari muhkuraa liikaa, tein tästä matalamman. Tämä ei kuitenkaan ollut hyvä idea johtuen langasta ja lopulta käsissäni oli pipa joka ei suostu 'roikkumaan'. No, mutta vastaanottaja oli tyytyväinen, onko muulla väliä?

Wurm

I saw this hat in Sukkalandias blog here. Soon I had my own Wurm on my needles, original pattern here. Nice, easy and pretty, simple as that :)

If knitting won't do it, sewing will :) - aka dog mantle

The knitted dog mantle was nothing short of a disaster, but I am persistant and my dog needed a new mantle (the old one covers just the back, not the (nearly) hairless belly). I had no pattern, so this is made from scratch. It is a wee bit too long (from neck to tail) but the dog will still grow so I am pretty darn pleased and will make more :)

Neulottu koiran takki oli jotakuinkin totaalinen floppi, mutta minä olen sitkeä, ja koirani tarvitsi uuden takin (vanha peittää vain selän eikä (melkein) karvatonta mahaa). Kaavoja ei ollut, joten tämä on tehty alusta asti itse. Se on hiukan liian pitkä (niskasta häntään), mutta koira kasvaa vielä joten olen hitsin tyytyväinen ja teen näitä lisää :)

Dog Mantle - Koiran takki

I have been working on this *bleep* thing for *bleep* ages and finally today it's done. I am happy that it's done although it did not turn out that nice. It's usable, but only just that. I had a vision of a pretty brown mantle, but it was so much easier said (and imagined) than done. The neck is too wide and too short, the flap that goes under the belly should have been done using short rows because the dog is not evenly shaped and at the moment the part that'd need the warmth the most (the nearly hairless bit of the belly) is still getting the cold. There was no pattern for a dogjacket this size - it seems that all the dogs that get cold are lapdogs. Dalmatians has a one-layer-coat and indeed do get deepfrozen at temperatures like we have now (-19 and windy). Anyway, it's done. Perhaps I will make another one at some point (like next winter at the earliest) fixing the mistakes I've done now - and definately less cables :)

Olen työstänyt tätä *piip* koirantakkia *piip* kauan ja tänään, vihdoinkin, se on valmis. Olen onnellinen että se on valmis, vaikka siitä ei tullut kovinkaan hyvä. Se on käytettävissä, mutta ei paljon muuta. Minulla oli visio kauniista ruskeasta takista, mutta se olikin helpommin sanottu (ja kuviteltu) kuin tehty. Niskaosa on liian leveä, ja liian lyhyt, vatsan alle menevää osaa olisi pitänyt muotoilla koska koira ei ole tasapaksu ja nyt osa joka tarvitsisi lämpöä eniten (vatsan karvaton alue) jää kuitenkin kylmäksi. Tämänkokoiselle koiralle ei ollut valmista mallia, näyttäisi siltä että ainoat palelevat koirat ovat sylikoiria. Dalmatialaisilla ei kuitenkaan ole alusvillaa, ja pakastuvat näillä lämpötiloilla (-19 ja tuulta). Jokatapauksessa, se on tehty. Ehkä teen toisen joskus (aikaisintaan ensi talvena) korjaten virheet jotka tein nyt - ja etenkin vähemmän palmikoita :)
