Lion's lace shawl - Lion's lace huivi

My friend asked me for a lace shawl for winter (ie warm as well) knit from thicker wool than lace wool. She brought me the yarn which obviously was what I had to work with. The yarn was very very nice to knit and the shawl knit up fast and was easily memorized ie perfect for tv-knitting :) The size ended up way smaller than requested (she asked for approx 240 x 90cm) but I ran out of yarn. I asked her whether she'd wait for me buying more yarn but she preferred to get the shawl the size it was then.

Ystäväni pyysi minulta pitsihuivia talveksi (ts lämmin) paksummasta langasta kuin pitsihuivilangasta. Hän toi minulle langat joten siitä oli lähdettävä. Lankaa oli mukava neuloa ja huivi syntyi nopeasti jonka lisäksi mallineule jäi helposti mieleen eli oli täydellinen tv-työ :) Koko tuli paljon pienemmäksi kuin mitä oli toiveena (hän toivoi noin 240 x 90cm kokoista huivia) mutta lanka loppui. Kysyin haulaako hän odotta että ehdin ostamaan uutta lankaa, mutta hän ottaa mieluummin huivin sen kokoisena kun se on.

Hat heel socks - Hat heel sukat

Likewise a desperate stash eating effort. I dislike the yarn. Still. Deeply. The sock pattern was A LOT OF FUN and very well made, easy to follow and the result was very fitting.

Yhtälailla epätoivoinen yritys syödä osa varastoista. En pidä langasta. Vieläkään. Yhtään. Sukkaohje oli HAUSKA ja hyvin tehty, helppo seurata ja tulos oli istuva.

An American in China - socks - sukat

A little, desperate move to reduce the stash. At least a little, it's not like this 67g makes a huge hole in my stash :) I cannot for my life figure why I have bought so much self-striping sock yarn, this particular colourway is okay, but the turquoise I last used is hideous. Anyway, this blue yarn is now finished, as in NONE left :)

The pattern I used was not brilliant, either I'm stupid or the pattern was full of little strange parts so I had to make a lot of mods. I will tell you about them here because there's too many to list under mods :) To start with my yarn was not exactly making gauge so I had 4 extra stitches. I also widened the linen stitch to 3 stitches more on each side because the change of pattern at the same point as the needle change was was just not good. Therefore, of course, I had to make mods around the heel to catch up with the pattern. The heel was supposed to be worked with 17st in linen stich, I used 19 because of the four extra stitches I had. In retrospect the heel is really not nice, did I make a new pair now that I'm wiser I would definitely make the heel flap at least 4-6 stitches wider, as it is it isn't very nice on the heel. Also coming up to the ribbing I had to make 4 short rows at the back because the leg of the sock was lookin all weird and it was way too low at the back. I still don't like these socks very much, but considering how many mods I had to make I am quite happy with the outcome. At least they look like socks, they did not at all points :/


Pieni, epätoivoinen yritys pienentää varastoja. Vähän, eihän tämä 67g tee kovin suurta reikää varastooni. En mitenkään ymmärrä miksi olen ostanut näin paljon itseraidoittuvaa sukkalankaa. Tämä sininen väri on ihan jees, mutta viimeksi käyttämäni turkoosi on aivan kamala. Jokatapauksessa tämä sininen lanka on nyt loppu, siis L-O-P-P-U :)

Käyttämäni ohje ei ollut kovin loistava. Joko olen tyhmä, tai ohjeessa oli paljon pieniä kummallisuuksia joten jouduin tekemään aika paljon muutoksia. Kerron niistä tässä koska niitä on liian monta jotta mahtuisi muutosten alle. Ensinäkin langalla en päässyt oikeaan neuletiheyteen joten minulla on 4 ylimääräistä silmukkaa. Levensin myös pellavaneulosta 3 silmukalla molempiin suuntiin koska ei vaan ollut hyvä että pellavaneulos päättyi samaan paikkaan missä puikot vaihtui. Sen takia jouduin tietenkin kantapäätä lähestyessä tekemään muutoksia jotta pääsin ajan tasalle ohjeessa kantapäätä varten. Kantapäässä piti neuloa 17s:lla pellavaneuletta mutta käytin 19 koska minulla oli ne 4 ylim. silmukkaa. Jälkikäteen ajateltuna kantapää ei ole kovin hyvä, jos tekisin uuden sukkaparin nyt käyttäisin ehdottomasti kantapäässä vähintään 4-6 s enemmän koska nyt se ei ole kovin istuva. Ribbineuloksen alussa oli tehtävä 4 lyhennettyä kierrosta koska sukka näytti ihan kierolta ja oli aivan liian matala takaa.
En vieläkään pidä näistä sukista, mutta ottaen huomioon kuinka paljon muutoksia jouduin tekemään olen sangen tyytyväinen. Ainakin ne nyt näyttävät sukilta, joka vaiheessa näin ei ollut.

Jaywalkers

Hating this sock yarn (why did I EVER by such an ugly ball of yarn, beats me...) I wanted it out of my stash. This was the second pair I made out of it and unfortunately there's yarn left for a third pair (there were 2 x 100g balls originally). Sigh. Knitting the Jaywalkers was nice enough, made up a little for the ugly yarn :) I used the toe up version of Grumperina's original pattern which is found HERE on Ravelry. The toe up version was written down by Natalia and can be found here.


Inhoan tätä sukkalankaa ja halusin sen pois lankakätköistäni. Tämä oli jo toinen pari tästä langasta, ja valitettavasti lankaa jäi vielä kolmanteenkin pariin (alunperin oli 2 x 100 kerä). Huokaus. Denim Poncho - farkunsininen Poncho

Rather dull and boring to make, but the outcome is quite allright :) I rather dislike the monotonous cutting of the fringe but crocheting layer after layer of chains is not really that exciting either. All the same, this is not for me, but for a friend so I am glad I made it :)

I had to make some mods because allthough I used the yarn indicated as well as given sized needles and hook the poncho was about 25 cm high (max) by the time it was done according to the pattern. I just wonder.... I couldn't figure it out. I can usually count on gauge if I use the given yarn + needle but this time it just didn't work. So I just crocheted until I ran out of yarn .


Aika tylsistyttävä ja pitkästyttävä tehdä, mutta lopputulos on ihan kiva. En erityisemmin pidä hapsujen loputtomasta leikkaamisesta, mutta ketjusilmukoiden virkkaaminen kerros toisensa jälkeen ei ole järin jännittävää sekään. Niin tai näin, poncho ei ole itselleni vaan ystävälle, joten olen iloinen että tein sen :)

Piti tehdä vähän muutoksia koska vaikka käytin annettua lankaa ja puikkoja poncho oli hädin tuskin 25cm korkea kun se ohjeen mukaan oli valmis. Ihmettelen... en tajua. Yleensä voin luottaa tiheyteen jos käytän ohjeessa annettuja lankoja ja puikkoja mutta tällä kertaa se ei vain toiminut. Niinpä virkkasin kunnes lanka loppui.

Black tube scarf - Musta putkilokaulahuivi

Done. Easily :) A lot of fun. Black yarn is not a favourite of mine (anybody?) but the yarn was so pleasant to knit that it well made up for the blackness. I never thought that that knitting 100% acyrlic would be so nice, rather thought my hair would stand up on my head because of static electricity, but that was not the case. It took a few days longer than I thought it would because the tube got so large and heavey rather early on that I did not bother to carry it with me, I rather took a sock under progress and left the tube for knitting at home. Rather mindless, but still so much fun.

Tehty. Helposti :). Kovin hauskaa. Musta lanka ei kuulu suosikkeihini (kuuluuko kenenkään?) mutta tätä lankaa oli niin mukava neuloa että se kyllä korvasi mustuuden. En olisi uskonut että 100% akryylin neulominen olisi niin mukavaa, lähinnä luulin että hiukset seisoisivat päässäni staattisesta sähköstä - näin ei kuitenkaan ollut. Valmistuminen kesti muutaman päivän pidempään kuin olin odottanut koska putkilosta tuli jo aika aikaisessa vaiheessa iso ja painava joten en halunnut kanniskella sitä mukanani vaan otin mukaan sukan ja jätin putkilon kotiin neulottavaksi. Aika aivotonta, mutta niin mukavata.

Striped fingerless gloves - raidalliset kämmekkäät

For a colleague that is leaving. Some of my colleagues decided to collect a 'first aid' basket for him and I accordingly promised to knit him a pair of fingerless gloves. I used yarn from stash (I'd say with those amounts you can find the right yarn for just about anything :)) and my own pattern from last time. Quickly done but somehow rather strenous...

Kolleegalle joka lähdössä. Joukko kolleegoja päättivät kerätä 'ensiapukorin' kun kolleegamme lähtee ja näinollen minä lupasin neuloa kämmekäät. Käytin lankaa varastoistani (Väitän että noilla varastoilla pitäisi löytyä oikea lanka melkein mihin vaan :)) ja omaa ohjettani viime kerralta. Nopeasti tehty, mutta jotenkin rasittavaa...
