Scrap socks - jämälankasukat

I just started a pair of basic socks to get rid of the horrible grey-pink yarn. I was knitting them at a cottage in Petäjävesi with 9 friends and very early on they were already spoken for. I agreed to give my friend Anu K (there were 2 other Anu's as well :)) this pair of socks in exchange for winding my skein (for my shawl) of VERY thin yarn into a ball, which she did. I did finish the socks on Saturday already and could have given her the socks right away, but I wanted to weigh and take a picture of the socks before I pass them on.

Aloitin perussukat vain päästäkseni eroon kammottavasti harmaa-pinkistä langasta. Neuloin niitä mökillä Petäjävedellä jossa olin 9 kaverin kanssa, ja hyvin aikaisessa vaiheessa ne oli jo varattu. Sovittiin, että annan sukat ystävälleni Anu K:lle (siellä oli kaksi muutakin Anua) vastineeksi sille että se keri yhden vyyhdin HYVIN ohutta lankaa puolestani. Sain sukat valmiiksi jo lauantaina ja olisin voinut antaa hänelle sukat saman tien, mutta halusin punnita ja valokuvata sukat ennen kuin annan ne eteenpäin.

Thank-you-socks II - kiitossukat II

As a thank you friend for my still oblivious friend after I emptied their garden of berries, onion, flowers, zucchini etc. Basic toe-up-socks with scarp yarn, thus somewhat different striping towards the top.

Kiitokseksi vielä tietämättömälle ystävälleni sen jälkene kun tyhjensin hänen puutarhansa marjoista, sipulista, kukista ja kesäkurpitsasta. Perussukat aloitettu kärjestä, tehty jämälangoista jonka vuoksi raidoitus varressa hieman erilaista.

Turtleneck pullover - pollopaita

My older daughter has chosen the colours and their balance, I have planned the stripes. I was only finishing the ribbing (on the body) when the first ball of yarn was finished, and I only had eight so I was terrified. I just kept knitting thought because I couldn't figure out what to do, and much later I came to realize that there was after all enough yarn, plenty in fact, because I have a full brown ball left over and some of the pink and white too - 25% of the yarn I had :) Goes to show...

Vanhempi tyttäreni on suunnitellut värit ja niiden tasapainon, minä raidoituksen. Olin vasta saanut vartalo-osan resorin tehtyä kun ensimmäinen kerä oli jo loppu, ja minulla oli kahdekasan, joten olin kauhuissani. Jatkoin neulomista kosk en keksinyt mitä olisi pitänyt tehdä, ja paljon myöhemmin tajusin että minulla kuitenkin oli tarpeeksi lankaa, itse asiassa yllin kyllän, koska minulta jäi yli täysi kerä ruskeaa lankaa sekä vajaat kerät valkoista ja pinkkiä - 25% langoista jotka minulle oli. Siinä sen näkee...

Thank-you-socks - Kiitossukat

A friend of mine gave me a couple of buckets of berries, onion, potato, flowers and whatnot and I was so happy I decided to knit both her and her husband (who picked berries with us girls) a pair of socks. Here are the ladysocks :)

Eräs ystäväni antoi minulle pari ämpärillistä marjoja, sipulia, perunaa, kukkia ja mitäkaikkea, ja olin niin iloinen että päätin neuloa sekä hänelle että hänen miehelleen (joka poimi marjoja meidän tyttöjen kanssa) sukat. Tässä on rouvvassukat :)

Lacy jumper - pitsineule

My baby chose both the yarn and the pattern for a jumper. This is what it looks like. I don't particularly like the colour combination, but I don't have to, do I. The pattern was simple and easy to follow, the yarn was very nice and the jumper is incredibly light.

Vauvani valitsi sekä langat että ohjeen neuleelle. Tämmöinen siitä tuli. En erityisemmin itse pidä väriyhdistelmästä, mutta eihän minun tarvitsekaan. Ohje oli helposti seurattava ja yksinkertainen, lanka oli miellyttävää ja paita on uskomattoman kevyt.

for someone dear - rakkaalle ystävälle

Basic toe-up socks from half scrap yarn, half new (that I had to buy to make a pair of socks from scrap yarn - ending up with nearly the same amount again :), although I have to say that it's way easier to match up a purple yarn than it is a yellow-red-self-striping yarn...) for a dear friend who wore out the last pair she got and nearly making a third friend having a fit on the way because she did a poor job (note: not my statement) darning them. Murder of socks, she said. I hope my friend will have these although her wish was that no blue, green or other hard colours - I figured this purple does not go under the category 'hard' as lavender would, what do you think? Colourful she wanted, colourful she will get :) And if she does not like them, they will wear out eventually :)

Perussukat aloitettu varpaasta, puoliksi jämälangasta, puoliksi uudesta langasta (joka oli pakko ostaa jotta saisin sukat tehtyä jämälangasta - lopputuloksena suunnilleen saman verran lankaa taas :), joskin on pakko todeta, että on paljon helpompi sovittaa luumunväristä lankaa muihin lankoihin, kuin kelta-oranssi-puna-raidallista..) rakkaalle ystävälle joka käytti loppuun edelliset saamansa sukat ja matkan varrella melkein aiheutti kohtauksen kolmannelle ystävälle huonolla parsimisyrityksellään (huom: ei minun lausuntoni). Sukkien murha, sanottiin. Toivon että ystäväni kelpuuttaa nämä sukat vaikka hänen toiveensa oli etteivät sukat olisi siniset, vihreät tai muun 'kovan' väriset - ajattelin ettei luumunvärinen kuulu kategoriaan kovat värit kuten esimerkiksi laventeli, vai mitä? Värikkäät oli tilauksessa, ja sitä saa, mitä tilaa :) Ja jollei hän pidä näistä sukista niin kuluvathan ne rikki lopulta :)

Stash-reducing-socks - varastontyhjennyssukat

A pair of very basic socks, for nobody in particular, just to reduce my stash (the modest 42kg...) a little. Very litte. Compared to stash size at least :)

Perussukkapari, ei kenellekään tietylle, vain vähentääkseni hieman lankavarastoa (joka on vaatimattomat 42kg...). Hyvin pieni hieman. Ainakin ottaen huomioon lankavarastoni koon :)
