Frogged top - purettu toppi

Proof that I have done something. I hate to have things that bothers me, and this top certainly did that. Now it does not :)

After getting totally intrigued by knitting blogs this year I have many times come across this Odessa hat by Grumperina. It's so pretty, and just what my daughters needs for spring (never mind this Finnish winter which has been crap). I found the perfect pink yarn that does not itch. The only thing is, that I could not find beads big enough to thread on the yarn so I had to modify the hat a bit and sew the beads on after I completed the hat. It took no longer than it would have taken to thread the beads onto the yarn, but of course they don't show as well since they are so tiny. Anyways, my younger daughter here absolutely loves her hat and she looks so pretty in pink, don't you think so too?!

Also the yarn consumption was a lot less than I thought so I have more than enough to make another of these in the same color for her bigger sister. Originally I had planned to make it another colour, but perhaps I just buy some different shade of beads instead. Beads are never a stupid thing to have around the house anyway.

This is the newest addition to my family of bags. I am like Imelda Marcos with her shoes (not that I am far behind on those either :)). It turned out very nice although a few modifications to the original pattern had to be made - like the strap I crocheted way longer than the pattern advised because I simply do not want to have anything in my armpit.

Tässä on uusin lisäys kassiperheeseeni. Minulla on kasseja yhtä monta kuin Imelda Marcosilla kenkiä (enkä jää kengissäkään paljon jälkeen:)). Tästä tuli oikein hyvä, tein kuitenkin muutaman pienen muunnoksen alkuperäiseen ohjeeseen mm pidensin hinaa tuntuvasti - mä en kertakaikkiaan halua kantaa mitään kainalokuopassa.

Pink top - vaaleanpunainen bolero

Slowly I am getting there - actually getting something finished. There has been so many unfinished jobs for so long. Me, a person who always finish what I start a.s.a.p - I have started working on many different projects suddenly. Sometimes it's because like Grumperina I need some 'mindless knitting to take on the train or bus without having scissors, measures, needles, many balls of yarn etc around, sometimes it's because it simply isn't 'hat day' or 'scarf day' today. All this gets my husband (to-be) laughing hysterically. Men, most of them don't get women at all. There might be a few exceptions though, one of which seem to be the great Canadian knitter Criminy Jickets. Go check this blog, this man understand women at least when it comes to knitting :)

Finally I have finished this top for my colleagues daughter. The same that I made the two short-sleeved tops and the white top (the same as this one) for. This did not turn out very well although it looks fine on the photo. Not that there's anything drastically wrong either, it just isn't good enough to me. It was the pattern, hard to understand and weird choices (like the bit that you use for tying the top - it actually comes from the neckline instead of from the waistline which to me would have been a better choice). This is the first of the two that I made, the white one is a wee bit better because I made some modifications, but I did not want to change it too much because they needed to look the same still. I am glad they are done though, and I can focus on something even more difficult (the traditional gloves.... *phew*)

Pikkuhiljaa hommat etenee - taidan itse asiassa saada jotain valmiiksikin.

something for myself - jotain itselle

I finished this top for myself quite quickly after all despite the struggle with the sleeves (same pattern that repeats around the edge and there I had no trouble...). It turned out quite nice I think. All I need now is a shawl pin to be able to wear it.

Lace cardi - pitsitakki

Finally it's done. It's caused me pain and agony. The pattern was easy enough and I knew it was going to end up pretty, but size 2mm needles plus a very hard mercericed cotton yarn is not my idea of fun. It hurt my hands and I did not enjoy it one bit. Sadly the other girl is waiting for her yellow one so I cannot yet promise not to use that yarn again :)
