orange Odessa - oranssi Odessa

This hat was made for myself but although I made it bigger than Grumperina advices is was not big enough for me. The width was ok, but the depth wasn't although I added 2cm to Grumperina's 14. So I gave it to my daughter with the intention to eventually make one for myself with bigger needles. When that will be *sigh*, nobody knows.

Tämän hatun tein itselleni mutta vaikka tein sen Grumperinan suositusta isommaksi se ei ollut tarpeeksi iso meikäläiselle. Leveys riitti, mutta syvyys ei vaikka lisäsin 2cm suosituksen 14cm:iin. Annoin sen tyttärelleni vakaana aikomuksenani jonain päivänä tehdä itselleni isompi isommilla puikoilla. Koska sitten lieneekään *huokaus*, sitä ei kukaan tiedä.

Flower cardi with ruffled hem - röyhelöhelmainen kukkatakki

This was recently 'ordered' from me by a colleague. Again, I got a copy from a magazine with a pattern and that's it. This time the pattern was good though and knitting this was a pleasure from start to finish :) I hope I will later be able to add pictures of the little recipient in the cardi. Her's anyhow the flat front and back pictures for you. I think this is adorable. And you live and learn, I have just learned what crab stitch is. For anybody that is not yet familiar with it, it can be found here at Knitty.

Tämä tilattiin minulta vastikään työkaverini toimesta. Taas sain jostain lehdestä kopioidun ohjeen enkä muuta. Tällä kertaa tosin ohje oli hyvä ja tämän neulominen oli innostavaa ja mukavaa alusta loppuun asti. Toivottavasti myöhemmin saan lisättyä kuvia jossa takki on pienen vastaanottajan päällä. Oppia ikä kaikki sanotaan, näinkin pitkään käsitöitä tehneenä minulle vasta selvisi mitä on rapuvirkkaus. Jos se on jollekulle vielä uusi juttu, ohje ja videot löytyvät Knittystä.

flower hat to go with cardi - kukkatakkiin sopiva lakki

This hat was easy to make, but personally the outcome of it does not please me. I don't have to like it though, because it's not for me :) It's a size 3-4 but my 7-year-old has a tiny head so she poses here with the hat. Maybe later I will get a picture with the rightful owner. I would have liked this hat better without the seam at the top, but I did not realize that at the time, I could have made the hat without the seam.

Tämä hattu oli helppotekoinen, mutta henkilökohtaisesti se ei miellytä minua. Eihän minun tarvitse pitää sitä onneksi, sillä se ei ole minulle :) Se on kokoa 3-4 mutta omalla 7-vuotiaalla on pieni pää joten hän tässä sitä esittelee. Ehkä myöhemmin saan kuvan oikean omistajan päästä. Olisin pitänyt hatusta enempi ilman päälaen saumaa, mutta en tajunnut sitä tekovaiheessa jotta olisin voinut tehdä hatun ilman saumaa.

cell holder - kännyteline

I have been in agony for a long time already when our mobiles pile up on this drawer in the hall. It's handy to have them there because it's very central in our house and easy to reach, you pass it when you come and go. But, it's also the only place where you can actually lay something off your hands and if it's invaded by mobiles there's always the risk that one of them end up on the floor. We have 5 mobiles now (older daughter has her own, Aki has two because one is for work and one is his private and then there's my two - the communicator I use every day, and my old little shellphone that I use for sports etc. ) and the little one (soon 7) needs her own when she starts school this fall. So there's quite a few of them. Aki suggested that I'd make something myself since I am so handy and I went straight downstairs and made one :) Clever, eh?

Olen jo pitkään tuskaillut sitä että kännykkämme kerääntyvät eteisen lipastolle. Siinä niitä on kätevä pitää sillä se on kodissamme keskeinen paikka ja siitä tulee mentyä ohi vähän väliä, mutta se on myös ainoa paikka mihin voit laskea jotain käsistäsi, ja jos se on kännyköiden valtaama on aina suuri riski että jokin niistä päätyy lattilalle. Meillä on nyt 5 kännykkää (seitsenvuotiaalla omansa, AKilla sekä työ että privaattikännykkä ja mulla kommunikaattori sekä pieni lenkkipuhelin...) ja kohta on edessä kuudennen osto kun kuopus syksyllä aloittaa koulun. Joten niitä on muutama. Aki sitten ehdotti että mikset tee sellaista telinettä itse kun kerta olet kätevä, ja minähän marssin suoraan alakertaan ja tein tällaisen. Kätevä, eikö?

Finally - vihdoinkin

It's been feeling like I always just sit by the computer trying to get this blog up to date instead of actually producing something to blog, but this is proof that I actually get something done too. Also at this moment I have 4 different projects on the needles which of course does not speed up the process on a single one. This, as well as the pink top I made earlier is for my colleagues daughter (she has two daughters, remember?). I made this a wee bit bigger and I modified the pattern so that it will fit this child with a long back (which is not the child posing - she's mine :)). It turned out fine, I am quite pleased with it. I did the tubular cast off on the edging and it is really nice. Slow, but you end up with a beautiful edging.

On tuntunut jonkun aikaa että aina vain istun tietokoneella aikeina saattaa tämä blogipäivitys valmiiksi, mutta tässä on todiste siitä että saan jotain tehtyäkin. Joskin tällä hetkellä puikoilla on 4 eri työtä joka tietysti ei mitenkään nopeuta yksittäisen työn valmistumista. Tämä, samaten kuin vaaleanpunainen samanlainen jonka tein aiemmin, on työkaverini tyttärelle (hänellä on kaksi tytärtä jos muistatte). Tästä tein hieman isomman ja muokkasin ohjetta jotta sain siitä hieman pidemmän koska tytöllä on kuulemma pitkä selkä (eikä malli kuvassa ole sama tyttö - tämä malli on minun :)) Siitä tuli ihan hyvä, pidän siitä. Päättelin silmukat 'tubular cast off ' menetelmällä (jos joku tietää mikä se on suomeksi älähtäkää) ja vaikka se on hidas menetelmä, reunasta tulee niin nätti ja joustava.

The mailman has been nice again - postimies on taas ollut mukava

I ordered these a couple of weeks ago and I had already forgotten all about them (the delivery did not take too long -it's rather my poor memory). Nice surprise to get the bulky letter with 140 of these :) It's in Finnish as you can guess, it says 'made with her own hands'. I ordered them here. They deliver to Finland only, but I am sure there are other places :)

Tilasin nämä muutama viikko sitten ja olin jo unohtanut ne (ei tomitus kovin kauan kestänyt, lähinnä on kyse minun surkeasta muististani). Mukava ylläri saada näitä 140. Tilasin ne täältä. Ne toimittavat vain suomeen, mutta eiköhän maailmalta löydy muitakin paikkoja :)
