Grey Wendy's-short-row-toe-gloves - Harmaat kämmekkäät

These gloves, the fourth pair so far, are for my colleagues husband. These are the best ones so far. They are totally simple except for my brilliant idea to knit the 'hood' using Wendy's toe-up-short-row-toe-sockpattern :). Really excellent not having to have the whole glove hanging around while you knit the hood (I used to pick up stitches where the hood is attached to the glove). Brilliant, if I may say so myself :)

Nämä sormikkaat, neljännet tähän mennessä, on työkaverini miehelle. Parhaimmat tähän mennessä. Todella yksinkertaiset lukuun ottamatta loistavaa ideaa tehdä huppu käyttäen Wendyn 'toe-up-short-row-toe' ohjetta. Aivan loistavaa ettei koko sormikas heilu mukana sillä välin kun neulot huppua (ennen poimin silmukat siitä mihin huppu kiinnitty sormikkaaseen). Loistavaa, jos itse saan sanoa niin.

Off white golves - luonnonvalkeat tumput

A pair for the sister too. This are not good, I am not happy with the result at all and have been feeling the urge to frog them. I am not going to though, or the winter will end before I get her the three pair of gloves she wanted - I have frogged these two pair of gloves numerous times already, always something wrong.

Sisarelle kanssa. Nämä eivät ole hyvät, en ole tyytyväinen lopputulokseen, ja olen tuntenut pakottavaa tarvetta ruveta purkamaan niitä. En kuitenkaan aio, tai talvi loppuu ennen kuin saan hänelle hänen pyytämänsä kolme tumppuparia - olen purkanut nämä kaksi tumppuparia jo monta kertaa, aina jotain väärin.

Blue Shawl - Sininen huivi

This was not a difficult shawl to make as such, simple k2tog and yo's, but still by far the most strenous that I have ever made. There are (at the back, the front is simple ribbing as yuo can see) five sections (two different, one kind at each side and three the same in the middle) that are simple enough, but since short rows are used to shape the shawl the five sections are all on a different row of the chart and keeping track of that was not an easy task at all times. Knitting with this yarn was a pleasure, I would do it again with pleasure :)

Huivi itsessään ei ollut kovin vaikea neuloa, yksinkertaisia kaksi-oikein-yhteen ja langankiertoja, mutta silti eittämättä hankalin huivi mitä olen tähän asti tehnyt. Takana on (edessä yksinkertaista ribbineulosta kuten näette) viisi palstaa, kaksi erilaista (reunoilla samanlaiset ja keskellä kolme samanlaista) jotka itsessään ovat ihan helppoja tehdä, mutta kun huivin muotoilemiseen käytetään lyhennettyjä kierroksia alkaa hauskuus kun kukin viidestä palstasta on kaavion eri rivillä - mukana pysyminen ei ollut kovin helppoa. Tällä langalla neulominen oli ihanaa joten neuloisin mielelläni uudestaan :)

Cowl for sister - kauluri siskolle

My sister is a choosy person and does not use anything she does not fancy (which in my opinion is just as well - she has the balls to say it too) so getting her to think of something she'd like was a much harder task than actually making them. In the end she came up with a triangular scarf (post in November) and a cowl - both dark grey or black (what a bore :)). Here's the cowl on my daughter. Taking photos during the winter in Finland with close to no daylight is a difficult thing , never mind trying to take a decent picture of a BLACK object. Thus, only pictures where it is actually ON somebody because on the other pictures it looked like a dead rat.

Siskoni on valikoiva ihminen eikä suostu käyttämään mitään mistä ei pidä (joka on mielestäni hyvä asia - ja siskollani on munaa sanoakin se :)) joten saada hänet sanomaan jotain mistä hän pitäisi oli paljon hankalampaa kuin niiden tekeminen. Lopulta hän sanoi että voisi käyttää pöheetä kolmiohuivia (bloggaus marraskuulta) ja kauluria, sellaista poolon näköistä - molemmat mustia tai tummanharmaita (tylsimys :)). Tässä kauluri tyttäreni yllä. Valkuvien ottamien valottomassa suomen talvessa on hankalaa itsessään, puhumattakaan kun yrittää ottaa kuvaa mustasta asiasta. Siksipä vain kuvia jossa se on jonkun yllä, kaikissa muissa kuvissa se näytti kuolleelta rotalta.

Happy little girl

Sometimes I do in fact get happy and someone remembers to take the pictures I ask for - on the new owner of whatever it is that I have made. My colleague Irmeli remembered to take this picture of her granddaughter Sara (and ask for permission to post the picture too of course) - isn't she just adorable :)

Joskus käy hyvä flaksi ja joku todella muistaa ottaa pyytämäni kuvat jossain vaiheessa. Työkaverini Irmeli muisti ottaa kuvat tyttärentyttärestään Sarasta (ja pyytää lupaa kuvan julkaisuun tietysti) - eikös tyttönen ole hurmaava :)

Hat for godson - Pipa kummipojalle

I wanted to make something for my godson for Christmas (the first time ever to give something that I made myself - to this boy that is) and decided on a hat that has silk in it to prevent itching (I think, because it feels SO soft). I wanted something really plain and simple that he'd wear on a dail y basis to preschool and for outing in milder temperatures. This is what I ended up with :)

Halusin tehdä jotain kummipojalleni jouluksi (ensimmäisen kerran ikinä - siis tälle pojalle - annan jotain kotitekoista) ja päädyin silkkisekoitepipoon - jos se vaikka ei kuitiaisi (oma päätelmä sillä lanka on niin pehmeää ja ihanaa). Tahdoin tehdä piposta tosi yksinkertaisen, sellaisen että sitä pidetään eskarissa ja ulkoilussa päivittäin lauhemmilla keleillä. Tässä lopputulos :)
